That\u2019s true whether you\u2019re struggling to lose weight or gain weight.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s made harder still when you hear from people in fantastic shape how \u201ceasy\u201d<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">it is to be healthy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019m sure you\u2019ve seen them as much as I have. Fitness enthusiasts, often with a supplement or apparel to sell, saying how they know the \u201csecret to melting fat.\u201d Or how a \u201ckiller new workout secret\u201d can give the physique that looks like it\u2019s been carved from stone with \u201cjust 10 minutes a day.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In truth, they almost certainly spend more time in the gym than they will admit, and some of them will have an unhealthy relationship with food and their physique. Obsessively counting every calorie and chugging garbage-filled supplements created in a lab with questionable ingredients is not a lifestyle to emulate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even in everyday life, you probably know someone who has never struggled with their weight and isn\u2019t shy about saying how it\u2019s easy to control it. What they really mean is it\u2019s easy <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for them <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to control.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s good for them, but it can be very demotivating to hear it. When you\u2019re already finding weight control a challenge, to hear that you shouldn\u2019t be struggling just piles on the pressure. You ask yourself why you\u2019re finding it so difficult and before you know it, you\u2019re developing an unhealthy relationship with food and your emotions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Keep in mind that they may fit into the clothes they want to, but that <a href=\"https:\/\/ovadiahearthealth.com\/old-site\/2021\/06\/20\/be-healthy-not-thin\/\">doesn\u2019t mean they are healthy<\/a>. In fact, your motivation to lose weight and improve your health could mean they are <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">less <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">healthy than you are, because they\u2019re mistakenly complacent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Why can people struggle with their weight but others don\u2019t?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are various reasons that affect how easy somebody finds it to control their weight.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some simply eat too much. Processed foods are calorie bombs but nutritionally empty, so it\u2019s remarkably easy to eat in excess of your caloric needs without feeling satisfied. Once people switch to unprocessed whole foods, it\u2019s very common for them to feel like they can\u2019t eat as much. With proper nutrition and macronutrients, the body will alert you that it\u2019s had enough to eat &#8211; much like filling a car up with fuel and the pump clicking off when the tank is full.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Conversely, others struggle to eat enough. Very thin people often feel like they\u2019re eating a lot, but when a day\u2019s intake is measured they\u2019re below their requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As I\u2019ve written here before, <a href=\"https:\/\/ovadiahearthealth.com\/old-site\/2021\/06\/20\/be-healthy-not-thin\/\">the number one factor that leads people to my operating table is food<\/a>. This is the best place to start making a change.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The other big factor is hormones, and these are affected by aspects of your lifestyle. The following can all have a detrimental effect on your hormone levels:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lack of sleep<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lack of sunlight<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sedentary lifestyle<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Poor diet<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can\u2019t build a house on shaky foundations, and the same is true of your body.
