Heart Disease Risk Management
Our Approach
Over the past half-century the incidence of heart disease has been steadily increasing and has been consistently the top cause of death in the United States and many other countries throughout the world. Despite advances in the early diagnosis of heart disease and widespread implementation of low-fat diets combined with cholesterol lowering medications, heart disease continues to be a major cause of death and disability.
During his 15+ years as a cardiac surgeon, Dr. Ovadia has taken care of thousands of patients with heart disease. Many of them were taking their medications as prescribed and adhering to the dietary recommendations recommended by medical and governmental authorities. During his own journey to overcome obesity, Dr. Ovadia discovered that the greatest benefit to him was when he contradicted the standard dietary guidelines and adopted a low-carbohydrate diet that focused on real, whole foods.
Extensive investigation into the scientific principles behind this approach has opened his eyes to the impact that similar dietary changes may have on people with heart disease or those that are at high risk for developing heart disease.
